On the Road

There are so many things I've been meaning to tell you about, but life right now is just crazy. This week, for example, I'm on assignment in a (rather surprising) culinary paradise. It's a place I've dreamed of coming ever since I was a little girl and fell in love with a certain red-haired literary heroine, but it turns out they have some pretty amazing food too. Do you have any idea where it might be?

p.s. These are all some very representative things to help you guess! I know google will come to your rescue, but I'm curious if anyone can identify it without internet help. :)

Red-haired says it all :-) And give my love to any green gables you might come across on the island!

Hmmmm - only one red headed snippet I can think of! Are you going to the museum while you are there?

June 26, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterAmy

I'm guessing PEI? Is it as wonderful as it is in the books?

I grew up across the straight in Nova Scotia and spent my honeymoon in PEI last summer - it's well worth the trip.
Not sure what culinary lovliness you might be experiencing there but, if you get the chance, check out Rossignol Winery (in Little Sands, near the ferry) and try their fruit wines. The blueberry is to die for!

I have wanted to go to Prince Edward Island since i was 9. I could not be more jealous! Also, the 'New Glasgow' Sign made me smile. Although I know that places all over the US and Canada are called New 'Insert British town', it makes me smile to find a new one. Especially when its named after my city.

Prince Edward Island??!? am jealous.

PEI is so beautiful this time of year! Cam's parents live there so we head over every so often. It's quite a long haul from Seattle though! Have a great trip!

Anne of Green Gables! I loved her so much....I might just have to re-read those lovely books.

Have fun on your PEI adeventure. Looking forward to reading all about it! Makes me want to pull out Anne of Green Gables again!

My husband and I visited the Maritime Provinces a couple of years ago and had lunch at the Water-Prince Corner Shop. Although I had enjoyed the Anne of Green Gables books as a young person, we skipped a visit to Green Gables when we saw the parking lot full of cars.

Oh I am so jealous!! You must be on PEI!! I can't wait to read about it.

June 26, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterMegan{Feasting on Art}

PEI, you lucky thing! I cannot wait to hear all about it.

June 27, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterAmy

How exciting! I was obsessed with Anne of Green Gables when I was younger. Can't wait to hear all about it.

Oddly, I read "red-haired girl" and immediately thought Pippy Longstocking - which put me a long way from PEI.

PEI!!!! The summer I was 11, my Dad took me, his girlfiend, and her adorable 4 year old daughter to the Maritimes on a 3-week camping trip. He bought me the series of books which I read and re-read many many times. Then, as a 34 year old married woman, my husband and I repeated the trip with our German Shepherd. Amazing places, amazing people, and even better food! Thanks for the reminder of 2 of the best trips of my life!

Must be Prince Edward Island, a place I have always dreamed of visiting.

But to be honest, Bainbridge Island sounds dreamy too.

I'm on Manhattan island, a place I'm happy to be!

I was beaten to the finish line. Everyone knows you are talking about Anne of Green Gables and Prince Edward Island. love your site!!!!!

Oh Prince Edward Island!!! How lucky. Can't wait to see what you tell us about it. Or read, rather! Enjoy!

June 28, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterAlejandra

Prince Edward Island, what a great place to visit! Thanks for the pics and congrats for your website.

I wish I could have tea with Marilla, Matthew and Anne on the porch of Green Gables --sigh!

June 29, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterHeidita

Definitely Prince Edward Island! I actually have a friend that just had a baby girl, and named her Anne after the kindred spirit!

Just got back from PEI 3 days ago and I'm already wishing I was back! The food was great and the people were among the friendliest I've ever met. We had a lobster supper at St. Ann's - the original in the church basement. Definitely a good experience! Enjoy your time there.

As soon as you said Red Haired Girl, the first person that came to mind was Anne of Green Gables. Makes me what to break out my well worn VHS of the series. PEI looks positively breathtaking, enjoy it!

July 2, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterHeather

ah.. PEI. You know, i was almost named Marilla...

July 2, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterKaren

Anne of Green Gables is my favorite heroine of all time! I always wanted to be a kindred spirit like her!

July 3, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterMaria

Well, everyone guessed it already - as soon as you said "red-haired"..;-)

July 4, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterEva

Oh, enjoy that beautiful place! I just found your blog and I absolutely adore it. Your entire concept is right up my alley. Can't wait until your next post :)

July 6, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterDanielle

I was just in PEI last week! The weather was overcast but I still hade a great time. Your pictures are wonderful. The day I was in Charlottetown I didn't have a chance to take many pictures of the buildings and I wish I had. They're so quaint and charming.

July 7, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterDarina

Well, as everyone else said before: red-haired says it all! I just love Anne and I wish I can visit PEI soon, too!

July 7, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterMärtha

Can't wait to read about your experience there and the food. ;-)
